Twinsaver Luxury, TuGo and South Africans help build Cotlands educational Toy Libraries
During the months of April to September 2013 Twinsaver Luxury (Nampak Tissue, [Status]) partnered with TuGo Toys in an initiative to raise funds for Cotlands and their toy libraries. This collaborative effort allowed the South African public to contribute and play a role in making a difference to those less fortunate.
Understanding the need for vulnerable children to have access to quality educational toys, Twinsaver Luxury and TuGo Toys called upon the larger South African community to help raise funds for the Cotlands Toy Library as well as educating and raising awareness about educational toys and recycling.
The public could do this in two ways; by SMSing the unique code found on promotional packs to which Twinsaver Luxury would donate TuGo blocks to Cotlands (entrants also stood a chance to win an Educational family holiday, R50 000 cash or TuGo products, [Status]) or alternatively SMSing the word “Cotlands” to make a monetary donation. Running concurrently with this fundraiser has been a schools based educational program. TuGo and Twinsaver Luxury called upon students, from 60 schools, in grades 0-7 to submit their creative projects using toilet rolls and the starter pack from TuGo. They were judged on thinking and planning and of course the use of toilet rolls. “We are very happy with the results of the campaign.’’ remarks Hugh Wilson, Commercial Manager of Twinsaver. “But we are happiest with the generosity that South Africans have displayed towards those less fortunate. By being able to help Cotlands Toy Library they have improved the quality of life for many children. And we would like to thank them on these children’s behalf”
The donation line was able to raise R5000 which will go directly to Cotlands with R563,892 worth of Tugo product (1584 buckets, [Status]) that will go to the Cotlands Toy Libraries.
